Connecting recycling ecosystems through data

Vedia develops digital solutions that connect recycling organisations, data and processes into a shared digital ecosystem.

DELV – Digital End-of-Life-Vehicles – is a national platform developed by Vedia together with Finnish Vehicle Recycling (Suomen Autokierrätys) for Finland’s end-of-life vehicle recycling ecosystem.

The platform brings together official recycling operators and authorised treatment facilities while providing data, monitoring and digital services for more efficient and transparent vehicle recycling.

Digitalising Finland’s vehicle recycling ecosystem

DELV was launched into production in June 2024 and has since been continuously developed together with the Finnish vehicle recycling sector.

Today, all five official waste operators are integrated into DELV, together with their Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs).

The platform connects around 300 organisations and more than 6,000 users involved in vehicle recycling. More than 60,000 vehicles have already been added to the system for vehicle-level analysis, reporting and monitoring.

DELV provides a common digital environment for an industry that involves several different organisations, systems and stages of the recycling process.

For vehicle owners

DELV provides an official digital channel for finding authorised end-of-life vehicle recycling locations and accessing recycling services.

The platform connects operators and facilities into a shared digital environment and supports the exchange of vehicle and recycling information across the network.

For producer responsibility organisations

DELV consolidates information from the recycling ecosystem and provides data, statistics, reporting and an up-to-date overview of recycling activities.

For the wider ecosystem

Shared digital information improves transparency, supports cooperation between stakeholders and creates a stronger data foundation for developing recycling processes.

Data-driven circular economy

Digitalisation enables recycling organisations to move from fragmented information towards a shared and data-driven view of the entire ecosystem.

DELV combines operational recycling information with vehicle-level data covering the Finnish vehicle fleet.

New data sources, including vehicle registration, battery and importer data, are continuously being integrated into the platform to support analysis, reporting and business intelligence.

This enables recycling data to be used not only for daily operations but also for planning, monitoring and developing the circular economy.

In January 2026, an electric vehicle battery recycling portal was launched as part of DELV.

The portal enables stakeholders to report EV batteries into the official recycling process. Waste operators can then manage the recycling process and arrange transportation for reported batteries.

The battery portal creates a digital connection between vehicles, batteries and the recycling ecosystem and provides a foundation for future battery traceability and product passport solutions.

From vehicle recycling to broader circular economy solutions

The technology and operating model behind DELV have been designed with scalability in mind.

A digital recycling platform can connect stakeholders, automate information exchange and provide shared data and analytics across different circular economy value chains.

The same approach has potential to support other circular economy value chains, including:

Built together with the industry

DELV development began in 2023 in cooperation with Finnish Vehicle Recycling, the official operators in the Finnish vehicle recycling network and other industry stakeholders.

The development started by mapping the existing recycling process, interviewing industry stakeholders and identifying where digital tools and improved data sharing could create the most value.

This collaborative development has continued through initiatives such as Paalix, supporting the development of new digital solutions and operating models for vehicle recycling and the circular economy.

This close cooperation with the industry enables DELV to respond to real operational requirements and continuously develop alongside the recycling ecosystem.
