The World Circular Economy Forum 2023 (WCEF) has ended and Vedia’s expo booth can be marked down as a great success. The two-day event provided insightful glimpses of what the world of circular economy has to offer. Further, we had the opportunity to present our car recycling platform to the international market.
Vedia, in partnership with Suomen Autokierratys, the Finnish Automobile Recycling Association, has taken up the mantle of tackling this problem head-on. With our pioneering platform, we are revolutionizing the vehicle recycling industry, ensuring transparency, and forging a path toward a circular economy.
An International Problem
While the platform has been developed in Finland, its impact extends far beyond national borders. The global nature of the vehicle recycling problem has garnered attention from around the world. The World Circular Economy Forum has provided Vedia with inquiries from countries such as Iceland, Indonesia, Israel, Nigeria, Senegal, Serbia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Vedia’s pioneering system is inspiring other nations to follow suit, recognizing the immense potential for sustainable vehicle recycling and the transformative power of AI-driven platforms.
A Step into the Future
Vedia’s revolutionary platform, CaaS Market, marks a significant milestone in the journey toward a sustainable and circular economy. By leveraging the power of artificial intelligence, data, and a collaborative approach, Vedia has transformed the vehicle recycling landscape in Finland. With their transparent and efficient system, ghost cars and environmental hazards are becoming a thing of the past. As other nations express interest in adopting similar systems, the positive impact of Vedia’s innovation is poised to reshape the global vehicle recycling industry. Through their dedication and forward-thinking approach, Vedia is paving the way for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
(Re)defining our scope
Talking to experts from other countries, we identified an issue that was not yet considered by our teams. The process of circularity does not end with a vehicle being taken apart. As of now any parts that cannot be recycled are directed to major companies specializing in shredding vehicles into metal. Our vision is that the platform will enable the tracking of these metals, ensuring their traceability throughout the recycling journey. Metals are subsequently resold to prominent companies like SSAB and Voest Alpine, which may utilize recycled materials in the production of metals. In turn, these metals may be used in the creation of new vehicles. This closed-loop approach fosters sustainability and allows manufacturers to proudly declare the percentage of recycled metals in their vehicles, thereby promoting their commitment to eco-friendly practices.
